Kids Breakaway is a weekend retreat for kids in grades 1 – 6.
This weekend is full of fun and exciting activities, opportunities to build life-long friendships, and creative life-changing services.
Our goal is that everyone who attends Kids Breakaway will go home empowered to GO and be a light in the darkness, 365 days a year.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Kids Breakaway is for all kids who are currently in grades 1 – 6.

 

WHEN IS IT?

Kids Breakaway will be held during two consecutive weekends in February and March. Scroll up to see which weekend works best for you.

(This cost includes all accommodations, meals, events, and activities.)

HOW DO I REGISTER?

All registration is done online. Choose your preferred weekend on this page above and complete all necessary forms.

WHEN SHOULD OUR CHURCH RESERVE OUR DESIRED WEEKEND?

Churches are encouraged to register as soon as possible to reserve their desired Breakaway weekend. Once maximum capacity is reached, registration will close.

Basic Camp Info

WHAT IS THE ARRIVAL TIME?

Registration begins Friday at 5:30 PM, with the first service beginning at 7 PM.

WHAT IS THE DEPARTURE TIME?

Departure is Sunday at 12:30 PM following lunch. Unfortunately, we do not issue partial refunds for early departures.

WILL MY GROUP HAVE THEIR OWN ROOM(S)?

It is our desire to allow church groups to stay together during the event. Due to the design of the housing units, it may be necessary to house groups in multiple rooms and buildings. Additionally, we may need to house your group with other groups and/or chaperones if needed.

SHOULD KIDS BRING EXTRA MONEY?

Those attending may bring extra money for CampMart and the snack bar. Please collect the cash upon your departure, place into a ziplock bag, label EACH bag with the child’s name, church city, and church name. Each chaperone will be responsible for their campers’ money.

 

BGMC OFFERING HIGHLIGHT:

The Breakaway offering will go to the FireBible Project.  This project will help buy Bibles for children around the world.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Bedding: pillow, sleeping bag or sheets, blanket Bible
  • Appropriate winter attire: jacket, gloves, & hat
  • Tennis shoes & boots
  • Towels & washcloths
  • Toiletries/personal items

WHAT NOT TO BRING

(If found in a camper’s possession, they will be confiscated and returned at the end of camp.

  • Cell phones
  • Electronic devices/gaming systems
  • Prank items

WILL THERE BE MEDICAL STAFF AVAILABLE?

Yes, there will be medical staff available. Each person attending is required to complete the online Medical Authorization Form. This is the second step of online registration.

Chaperones & Volunteers

ARE THERE CHAPERONE AND VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS?

(ALL LEADERS MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD TO BE A CHAPERONE/STAFF.  JUNIOR CHAPERONES/STAFF MUST BE 16 AND APPROVED BY JEREMIAH GRUBER, CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES DIRECTOR. Request approval by emailing jeremiah@penndel.org)

 

Yes, our office requires the following three items for every chaperone (18 years of age and older) who will attend with your group. These reports may take several weeks to receive, so please recruit your chaperones as early as possible. Please submit copies of these completed clearances to cmeyer@penndel.org

FBI Criminal History & Fingerprinting OR a signed affidavit affirming chaperone is not disqualified from service

DO I NEED TO RENEW MY CHAPERONE SCREENING FOR 2023?

Please check your chaperones’ state clearances to determine if they are up to date. They must be renewed every 5 years. Please be aware the turnaround time for receiving results may be severely delayed due to high volume. Plan to rescreen as early as possible.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING AS A CHAPERONE?

  • A water bottle
  • Night light or two
  • Plastic hangers to dry towels
  • Flash light
  • Watch or cell phone
  • Permanent marker for camper purchases and t-shirts
  • Pencil or pen, and paper or tablet
  • Blue painters tape
  • Scissors (stored away securely)
  • Air freshener for bathroom
  • Backpack and hat
  • Anti-bacterial hand sanitizer
  • Table games, puzzles, or card games (great alternative for inclement weather)
  • Tissues and paper towels
  • Snacks for yourself
  • Sneakers (you will walk a lot)
  • Bible and optional devotional to use with your campers
  • Cards or letters for campers who do not receive mail
  • Pillow, sleeping bag/bed sheets, and blanket
  • A throw rug or bath mat (for in front of the shower)
  • An awesome attitude and a servant’s heart!
