Home Missions Project 2019

Home is Where the Heart is

Two houses that will lead to students being reconciled to Christ along with the transformation of their Universities, the marketplace, and the world!

We are always striving for increase. Increasing how we serve the campus. Increasing our capacity to love and care for students. Increasing our impact and influence in four of the most important years of a person’s life. One person might not be able to change the whole world, but he or she can change the world for one person. Every day at Chi Alpha, we see this take place!

Home Missions Project Offering 2019

Dear Pastors and Leaders,

A home is a special place, a place of love, safety, relationship building, learning, and fun. It is a place deeply rooted within the heart, and where a heart can make the most impact. Just as it is with many homes, so it will be for the Chi Alpha Ministry Houses in Philly and Edinboro.

Chi Alpha has seen a large amount growth through the years, and has a heart to continue growing but they need our help! I invite you to partner with these two amazing Chi Alpha Ministries.

PRAY

Please pray for the XA House @ Temple as they locate, purchase and renovate.

Please pray for approvals for the building plans for the Ministry Center @ Edinboro.

Please pray as both Chi Alphas raised funds for their Capital Campaigns.

GIVE

Joel and Phil are taking enormous steps of faith and believing God for miraculous provision to fund these homes. Let’s partner with them! A special offering will be received on Wednesday morning, May 8 at MinistrieSummit. You can also send an offering to the project of your choice. Giving can be one time or monthly.

Chi Alpha Ministry House – Edinboro

Joel and Nichole Schreiber started the Edinboro Chi Alpha in the mid-2000’s after they decided to follow the call to take the impact Chi Alpha had in their lives from Missouri to students in Erie County. Now, the ministry thrives and they are blessed to have a groundbreaking (literally) new opportunity ahead! Through God’s provision and the contribution of several Chi Alpha partners, a plot of land has been obtained directly across from the Edinboro University campus.

The vision of Chi Alpha is to have a ministry house with living space where students and staff can live, as well as enough meeting space for Chi Alpha to host events. This looks specifically like:

  • Six 3-bedroom apartments with a full kitchen, full bathroom, and common living area in each (2 with full ADA access)
  • Large meeting area
  • Kitchen
  • Smaller study rooms
  • Prayer room
  • Bathrooms

These ministry spaces can be used for students to connect through game nights, worship services, and small group Bible studies, just to name a few. It will also be a space that staff can utilize for regular meetings, outreach planning, and more. Chi Alpha is breaking ground for the new ministry house this spring as funds are raised and goals are met.

Chi Alpha Ministry House – Philly

The greater Philadelphia area is home to 80 colleges and universities with approximately 500,000 students. The desire of Chi Alpha Philly is to establish ministries at four major schools in Center City Philadelphia. The University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, Temple University and the Community College of Philadelphia are home to 120,000 students.

For many years, Phil and Val McLeod have done well in forming this foundation for ministry on campuses around the Philly area. Their vision now is to expand outward into the community and to provide more training and growth to a staff full of dynamic leaders.

A Chi Alpha ministry house in the Philly area will help to provide living space for these leaders who can be close to the students and campuses they aim to reach. It will also provide a great space where ministry and connection can thrive.

One of those students who has a heart for Chi Alpha and for this house is…

Jobi is a senior at Temple University majoring in Finance. He is co-leader of Chi Alpha at Temple. He is gifted with organizational and administrative skills as a ministry leader. His desire is to remain in Philadelphia after graduation and to serve as a marketplace leader for students who are part of Chi Alpha in Philly. His connection to the campus and the city and his commitment to speaking into the lives of students will be enriched by the staff house serving as a ministry center.
